Bounce Back From Injury With Therapy Balls

No one likes a sports injury, but if you’re hurt, take heart. There are many tools available to make your sports injury rehab quicker and more effective.

Physical therapy balls are among the most versatile tools for injury rehab. Different types of exercise balls can serve as therapy balls, including:

Exercise balls: Large fitness balls can be used as part of an injury rehab program by stretching the back and opening tight shoulders. If you are just beginning to recover from an injury or surgery, use an exercise ball that is slightly deflated, and gradually inflate the ball for a greater balance challenge as you improve.

Sensory balls: These small balls with sensory nubs can be used by physical therapists or for self-massage on troublesome tight muscles. The pliable nubs can help break up the scar tissue that remains after an injury. Balls such as the FitBALL® Sensory Balls are available in 10 cm and 20 cm sizes, and the inflation can be adjusted as rehab progresses.
